Entrepreneurship in My Life

I haven't necessarily been exposed to entrepreneurship in the traditional way of someone creating a product to try and sell, but rather as a musician, trying to learn to perfect my product and then learn how to market it to people in the most effective way. I am currently trying all different methods of putting my music out into the world, and UF is actually my sort of experimental ground, as well as my main source of networking aside from the internet. Over the past year and a half that I have been here, I have learned how difficult promoting yourself as an artist of any kind is, but I have also grown and gotten smarter with how I choose to go about things.

I am taking this class to hopefully take the principles I learn here and apply them to my career goals. I also want to learn to have a more business-centered, goal-oriented mindset, so that I can learn to make the most of every opportunity that comes in front of me.

  1. Hi Joshua,
I'm glad you're following up on your passion and I think UF is a great place to start since there are so many resources, networks, and people available to help you as well as the content taught in class. Promotion is one of the hardest parts of starting something new because you have to begin from the bottom and build a fan base. This part can be really frustrating if it isn't working but continuing to try new ways to promote yourself can lead you to the one that will work. Thanks for sharing.

  2. I like how you see entrepreneurship in a different light than the classic idea of making a product and selling it. I can see how establishing and promoting yourself as an artist could be difficult. I relate to this, as I believe that with doing any task, you can learn from failure. I believe that if you learn from failed attempts, then you can improve. I am also taking this class in the hope to change or open my mindset.

  3. Wow Josh, that's really cool! I think that being a musician would be really tough and it's so cool that you're working hard to make your dream come true. Luckily UF is a huge school so you have a lot of extra ground to work with along side the internet. I hope everything you're working for works out for the best and you go far.
